The Mmamashia- Kanye Pipeline Project is designed to draw potable water from Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant to Kanye over a total distance of 120 kilometres (km).

At Gamononyane (28km from Mmamashia), a 43 km pipeline diverts to supply water to Molepolole, followed by an additional 27km line designed to suply Thebephatswa BDF Camp.

The Gamononyane to Molepolole pipeline is at tender management stage with construction to start early in 2020.

The project consists of the following associated works:
Mmamashia Pump Station- pumps potable water from Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant to Greater Gaborone which now include Thamaga, Moshupa, Kanye and Molepolole.
Ga-Mononyane Pump Station- strategically placed to pump water to both Kanye and Molepolole.

Thamaga, Polokwe and Sejelo Pump Stations- designed to pump water along the pipeline.
The 4000 Cubic metres and 7,500Cubic meters Concrete Reservoirs designed as additional water storage facilities for Thamaga and Moshupa Villages respectively.

The two 1000 cubic meters elevated galvanised tanks, one at Thamaga and another at Moshupa, designed to supply water to high areas thus eliminating low pressures within the distribution network of those respective villages.

The 10,000 cubic meters Sejelo and 3,500cubic metres Ruele concrete reservoirs at Kanye Village were built to augment water supply and as water supply balancing reservoirs.

Beneficiary Villages:
Once the project is complete, it is expected to alleviate water supply shortages in Thamaga, Moshupa, Kanye, Molepolole and BDF Thebephatshwa Camp.
