The Corporation engaged in various major projects during the year, some of which were carried over from the previous reporting period. All the projects were in line with the Corporation’s efforts to deliver adequately on its mandate.
North South Carrier Scheme II
Construction of the over 365km North South Carrier Scheme Project II (NSC II) is progressing well. This is a pipeline that will transport water from the newly constructed 400MCM Dikgatlhong Dam in the north to the south of the country to augment supply. Construction of the 78km bulk raw water pipeline from Break Pressure Tank I (BPTI) near Letsibogo Dam to Moralane is completed. The next phase of the project which involves the construction of the 78km from Moralane to Palapye is ongoing and will be completed in the 2014/15 financial year. The scheduled completion date for the NCS II Project to reach Gaborone is 2019.
The Corporation embarked on a project to equip the Masama Well-Field and inject the water into the NSCI to augment supply to the south of the country. When fully operational, the well-fields will supply 60ML/day. The project is ongoing and its completion date is 2014/15 financial year.
A project to rehabilitate the Ramotswa Well-fields which had been laying fallow for years following their contamination by pit latrines was undertaken. The newly completed project contributes 8ML/day supply and this augment supply to Lobatse.
Malwelwe Water Supply Augmentation Scheme
The newly completed project aims to augment supply and address long standing water shortages in Molepolole, Thamaga and Thebephatshwa Airbase. The project entailed drilling six (6) boreholes, construction of associated works, a transmission water pipeline, a booster station, a pumping main from the booster station to Gaotlhobogwe Treatment Plant and Telemetry and SCADA Technology. The boreholes currently supply 6ML/day to augment Molepolole, Thamaga and Thebephatshwa Airbase
