Board Of Directors

  1.     Matome Tsholetsa Malema (Board Chairman)

Mr. Matome T. Malema has 25 years of varied experience in diamonds and base metals at various technical, projects, operational and general management roles. He was Assistant General Manager and General Manager at Orapa and Letlhakane Mines and has also served as General Manager Operations at Discovery Metals Limited. He has also played the various roles at BCL Limited, including Flash Furnace Supt, Coal and Drying Plant Supt, Production Supt Concentrator, Business Improvement Manager and Divisional Manager Metals Production.

Mr. Malema is a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Mineral Process Engineering from the Camborne School of Mines, UK, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University and an Executive MBA from the UCT Graduate School of Business. He is self-employed.


2.     Dr. Obolokile Thothi Obakeng (Vice Board Chairman)

Dr Obolokile Thothi Obakeng holds a PhD in Hydrogeology/Hydrology obtained from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. He also holds an MSc. in Water Resources Management (Hydrogeology) which he obtained from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC-Netherlands) and a BSc. degree in Geology obtained from the University of Botswana. In 1996, within the framework of GRES II he studied Isotope Hydrology at the Royal University of Groningen, in the Netherlands.  He joined the public service in 1997 as an assistant hydrogeologist at the Department of Geological Survey where he progressed to the position of Principal Hydrogeologist I. He became the Department of Water Affairs Deputy Director in 2008 where he progressed to the position of Director of Water Affairs in 2010, a position he is currently holding.


3.     Godfrey B Molefe

Mr. Godfrey B Molefe holds a BCom degree from the University of Botswana and an MSc in Fiscal Studies at the University of Bath. Molefe started his career as Lecturer in Accounting and Taxation at the University of Botswana in 1995. After qualifying with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in 2001 he continued working for the University of Botswana both as a Lecturer and Administrator. Molefe has served as Finance Manager for Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, Botswana Medical Aid Society and Botswana Power Corporation. Godfrey Molefe joined the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) in 2010 as Founding Director of Financial Services. Godfrey B Molefe chairs the Audit Committee of Water Utilities Corporation and also serves in the Board of National Development Bank.

4.     Rachel Nekati

Mrs Rachel Nekati holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Corporate Credit Accreditations, Training Accreditations and a Diploma in Events Management. During her career Mrs Nekati has held various leadership positions including, Head of Business Banking, Head of Retail Credit, Branch Manager, Personal Financial Consultant and External Affairs Manager.

 Mrs Nekati is the Managing Director and is an Accredited Management Training Consultant for Achievement Enterprises. She has successfully delivered high level leadership to the three international organizations being Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Bank and DeBeers Botswana respectively in her 12 years in the banking and mining Industry. She serves in various boards and chairs a number of board subcommittee’s respectively.
